Hi all new to the forum from sunny Ayrshire. Just back from a 12 mile shake down run in my 71 type 2 baywindow tintop. Just completed 8 wks work. Was hoping to take her to volksfling last weekend but didn't finish the work in time. Enjoyed going round the stalls & cars on saturday but would have preferred to stay over...... next year!!!

Welcome to the forum! Bedrock has been going for a while so they can't be that bad, I honestly have no idea though. The problem you might have is that all the specialists will have long waiting lists currently. Hopefully someone will be able to recommend someone close to you. Also, might be worth posting in the tech advice section, more people may see it. Good luck though :)

An easy but brutal option is to cut an access panel into the floor above the tank, then rivet a patch over the opening. Sounds horrific but done neatly, saves lots of work and gives easy access fot fuel gauge sender also

Hiya, new to the forum so hello!

Can someone recommend me a good VW T2 bus mechanic for an engine-out job to repair the fuel breather hoses? Here's a summary of the problem:

My wife and I have owned a 76 bay bus for about 5 years now. Type 4 engine, Aussie import, injection converted to single carb. It had an abused past as a rental bus down south and was in a bit of a state when we rescued it, so we did a bare metal refit and repaint (PFP in Dalkeith) about 2 years ago. It now looks the business.

Since last autumn we've noticed a worsening fuel vapour smell when going around tight bends or roundabouts with more than half a tank. It's not the filler neck cos we had that redone with the back quarter panel in 2016. I took a look with wee inspection camera and I wonder if the rubber joints on the fuel vapour breathing pipes are perished.

Only way to know for sure is drop engine out and look at the tank & pipes directly. Having spent a lot of cash getting the van back in shape, we really don't want an rolling inferno on our hands (happened to some mates of ours on the M5 a few years ago!)

I'm pretty handy in the engine bay but don't have the space, gear or time to drop the engine myself. We live in Glasgow so asked David Mylett in Thornliebank as he's done some MOT work for us in the past, but he's not taking on any more campervans for the foreseeable.

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic with a decent level of T2 knowledge? Top hit on Google Search is Bedrock Retrodubs in Motherwell - any good?

Greetings and welcome, you will get plenty of help and advice here. Don't worry it's not normally this quiet, everyone must be under their cars and busses getting them ready for summer

Hello all, just bought ourselves a T25 Holdsworth villa 3 :)
Is useable right now but could do with some TLC.
So expect lots of questions about DIYing a van up.

I made a post to r/vandwellers :) The person who recommended me said they drive an orange Baja Bug if it helps? Unfortunately I won't be able to come to the meet tonight to properly introduce myself but I will do my utmost to ensure I can make it next month.

Hi guys! Recently threw myself in at the deep end and bought a some-what rusty, beaten, worn down, stripped out but incredibly AWESOME 1990 1.6 Diesel T25! Whilst bragging on Reddit of my new love, I was directed here by another enthusiast!

I'm hoping this is a place to share my beloved Angus, oggle at some other VW's and maybe pick up some useful hints and tips on caring for him!

People call me Loch and my van is Angus
