Howda all. Today's question
Oil light buzzer issue.
Started van this morn going go for we day out.
All good until I moved away. Oil light and buzzer came on.
Stopped checked oil. All ok. Started up again.
Ok when idling but soon as go it starts pretty soon.

So after day out in car done we google.
Maybe loose wire or faulty relay or oil pressure issue.
Any advice on what check first?
How do you do a oil pressure test.

Can I drive it to garage di get this done
Any info be great.

Does it come on it you're not moving but rev the engine? Start with looking for obvious wires dangling etc. Is yours a diesel?

Stick a gauge sender and gauge on it mate,it'll tell you straight away if you really have no oil pressure, and if not you can start checking elsewhere.

If the warning only happens when you are driving, to me that would point to a wiring fault, as the engine moves on the mounts it makes and breaks the wire, if an engine has an oil pressure problem, this normally shows up at tickover with a hot engine.
When was the oil last changed, as old oil looses pressure, but again, tickover when hot shows it up.
A way to check that oil is getting around the engine is to remove the filler when its running, and see if plenty of oil is getting thrown around inside the cam cover
Ttfn Glenn
Ps the last bit about the filler only applies to upright engines

If it ain't broke, fix it till it is. If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem. Lack of funds is the mother of ingenuity

If it really isn't producing oil pressure at revs you couldn't drive it anywhere without it blowing up. Is the oil level okay and does it smell normal? Might be diesel thinning the oil down, caused by a faulty injector/over fuelling.Could be simple electrical fault though, just need to check all the wiring from the oil sender back to dash.Could also be a faulty sender, but usually you get no oil light at all when these fail.

So need get a oil pressure test done.
Is it easy to do if I buy the tool, as I'm kind stuck unless
someone fancys coming over and helping me out.
Obviously I don't want risk driving it.

can you 'test' the senders are working ?

If you were nearer i could get a look at it mate, but can't get out of here for the next few days.

You should be able to test them with a multimeter or test light. One of them(low pressure 1 i think )should be earthed with the ign on,and the other should be earthed when the engine is running and revving above 1800 or so revs. They work oppositely if you know what i mean. As you can gather i am shite at explaining ,better at doing LOL

Does the light come on with the ign and go off when you start it? If it does then you only have to test the high pressure sender mate.

Could be high pressure sender, need to get a gauge on it to find out mate. You can a cheap oil pressure test gauge on ebay, and just remove one of your senders and gauge and special fitting goes in it's place. You want to see about 10psi at idle and 40ish at 2500 revs. Is it making any new noises since this happened, knocking or banging?
